When the seasons change from Summer to Autumn, Janice is reminded of amazing moments spent in Big Sur, California. She was inspired to create a gemstone float necklace based on her memories there. "This is such a sacred space, and in Fall the trees and horizons glow in tones of orange, green, and copper. It's probably my favorite place on Earth."
This necklace is meant to be simple and something you can wear anytime. It's a collection of faceted sunstone, peridot, and labradorite. Janice added smokey quartz briolettes to represent the shape of cliffs and the winding roadway. The curated stones give a lightness to the design and the facets bring out the sparkle in the gems. The design culminates with a Nunn Design toggle clasp and leaf charm, which is intended to dangle in front.

Based on Janice's "Tin Cup Necklace project", Big Sur is strung and hand knotted on Griffin Silk Size #6. The sample length is 21½" with spacing of ¾" between beads. To make your finished sample shorter, space the beads closer together (like ½") and/or leave some beads out. Tune in on October 11, 2023 and learn how to make your own memories. Janice and Kate will demonstrate how to create this float from start to finish.

• 1 Card of Griffin Silk Size 6 in Mocha
• End Tips in Antique Copper
• Jump Rings in Antique Copper
• 1 Toggle Clasp in Antique Copper*
• 1 Leaf Charm in Antique Copper*

  **Please Note: Each kit contains one extra jump ring and one extra end tip. It also contains six labradorite beads, although Janice uses five in her sample.
  

To create this project, you will want to also have on-hand these tools and supplies that are not included in this kit: Knotting Tweezers OR Awl, GS Hypo Cement, Chain Nose Pliers, Bent Chain Nose Pliers, Flush Cutters OR Thread Snips, Tape Measure.
